Pilot project for the purchase of mobile phones: mobilcom-debitel purchases second-hand mobile phones
As the largest network-independent telecommunications provider in Germany, customer support and service is paramount to mobilcom-debitel. Alongside impartial and competent advice, tailored to individual needs, customers are offered a further advantage in mobilcom-debitel stores as from November 16, 2009: if required, customers can return their old mobile phone in exchange for a voucher to the value of the model and condition of the mobile phone. This voucher can then be redeemed in all participating mobilcom-debitel stores in Germany against the purchase of new products or accessories.
"In offering the return of mobile phones, we present our customers with an attractive offer to exchange their old mobile phones for credit", commented Jochen Otterbach, a managing director of the mobilcom-debitel Shop GmbH. The pilot project for the purchase of mobile phones has been in operation in Berlin from November 16, 2009 and will continue until January 2010. Depending on demand, a nationwide rollout is planned. "Through our pilot project we offer our customers the chance to readily trade in their old mobile phone in exchange for either an up-to-date mobile phone or for the latest accessory", stated Christoph Preuß, a managing director of the mobilcom-debitel Shop GmbH. "With sustainability and environmental issues in mind, we also ensure that the old mobile phones are properly disposed of or recycled", added Hubert Kluske, a managing director of the mobilcom-debitel Shop GmbH. In Germany there are currently 65 million used mobile phones; this increases by approximately 15 million each year. "mobilcom-debitel store managers have received extra training for the pilot project to ensure that all our customers can be individually and comprehensibly advised on this subject", explained Sven-Christian Feist, supervisor of retail marketing and training at mobilcom-debitel.
With approximately 1.000 exclusive stores and 6.000 sales points, which also include the highly-frequented stores Media Markt and Saturn, mobilcom-debitel is clearly the third biggest name in the German mobile phone market and the largest network-independent telecommunications provider in Germany.
